Introduction and Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service govern the use of the website located at rentcarsaranda.com and the car rental services offered through it in Sarandë, Vlorë County, Albania. By accessing this website or completing a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms in full.
If you do not accept these terms, you must not use this website or submit a rental reservation. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and customers of rentcarsaranda.com regardless of the device or method used to access the service.
We reserve the right to update or modify these terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on this page. Continued use of the site after any modification constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
Eligibility and Driving License Requirements
To rent a vehicle through rentcarsaranda.com, you must meet the following requirements at the time of pickup:
Minimum Age
The minimum age to rent a standard vehicle is 21 years. Drivers aged 21 to 24 may be subject to a young driver surcharge, which will be disclosed at the time of booking. Certain premium, luxury, or large-displacement vehicles require the main driver to be at least 25 years of age. Age verification will be conducted at pickup in Sarandë or at the designated delivery location.
Driving License
A full, valid driving license is required. The license must have been held for a minimum of one year prior to the rental start date. Licenses issued by EU member states, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Australia are accepted in their original form. Drivers holding licenses issued in non-Latin alphabets - including Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic, or similar scripts - must also present a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside the original license. Expired licenses will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Additional Drivers
Any person other than the named main driver who intends to operate the vehicle must be declared at booking or at pickup and must meet the same age and license requirements. An additional driver fee may apply. Undeclared drivers are not covered by the included insurance policy.
Bookings, Cancellations, and No-Show Policy
Reservation Process
Reservations may be submitted through the booking widget on this website. A confirmation will be sent to the email address provided at the time of booking. Your reservation is not guaranteed until a confirmation is received. We reserve the right to decline or cancel reservations where availability cannot be confirmed, where the provided information is inaccurate, or where these terms have not been met.
Free Cancellation
Bookings may be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled pickup time. Cancellations made within 48 hours of pickup may be subject to a cancellation fee equivalent to one day's rental rate. To cancel, please contact us at [email protected] with your booking reference number.
No-Show Policy
If you fail to collect the vehicle at the agreed pickup location - whether at Sarandë port, a hotel address, or another designated point - without prior notice, the reservation will be treated as a no-show. No-show reservations are non-refundable. If you anticipate a delay due to ferry, bus, or road conditions on the Albanian Riviera, please contact us as early as possible to adjust the pickup time.
Modifications
Requests to modify an existing booking, including changes to dates, vehicle category, or pickup location, are subject to availability and may result in a price adjustment. Modifications must be requested at least 24 hours before the original pickup time.
Pricing, Payment, and Optional Extras
Displayed Currency and Pricing
All prices displayed on rentcarsaranda.com are shown in Euros (EUR) unless otherwise stated. Prices are per calendar day and are inclusive of the standard vehicle insurance, unlimited mileage on eligible categories, and local taxes applicable in Albania. Prices do not include optional extras, one-way drop-off fees, or fuel unless expressly stated in the booking summary.
Payment Terms
Payment is collected at the time of vehicle pickup in Sarandë or at the agreed delivery point. We accept major debit cards and credit cards. A valid payment card in the main driver's name is required at pickup for identity verification, but no security deposit will be blocked or pre-authorized on standard bookings - this is our core no-deposit commitment to customers. Specific premium or specialty vehicles may carry different payment conditions, which will be disclosed clearly before you confirm your reservation.
Optional Extras
The following extras are available to add to your booking, subject to availability:
- GPS navigation unit - available for a daily fee
- Child and baby seats - Group 0, 1, 2, and 3 seats available; must be requested in advance
- Additional driver - per rental period fee applies
- Roof rack or bike carrier - subject to vehicle compatibility
- One-way drop-off - to Vlorë, Gjirokastër, or Tirana; fee varies by destination
Fuel Policy
Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than provided, a refuelling charge will apply. The charge covers the cost of fuel plus a refuelling service fee. No refund is issued for unused fuel returned above the required level.
Vehicle Use Rules and Prohibited Activities
All vehicles rented through rentcarsaranda.com must be used in accordance with applicable Albanian road traffic law and the following conditions. Violations may result in immediate termination of the rental agreement without refund and full liability for any resulting damages.
Permitted Use
Vehicles are for lawful private transportation purposes only. They may be used on paved public roads within Albania and, where expressly agreed in writing, in designated neighbouring countries. Routes along the Albanian Riviera including the SH8 coastal road, the route to Butrint National Archaeological Park, and roads toward Gjirokastër are within standard permitted use.
Prohibited Activities
- Off-road driving, including unmaintained tracks, beaches, and mountain paths not designated for standard vehicles
- Use in motorsport, racing, or any competitive driving activity
- Subletting, hiring out, or allowing any undeclared third party to operate the vehicle
- Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs driving ability
- Using the vehicle to tow another vehicle or trailer without prior written approval
- Transporting hazardous, illegal, or controlled substances
- Smoking inside the vehicle - a cleaning surcharge applies if evidence of smoking is found upon return
- Crossing into another country without prior written consent from rentcarsaranda.com
Any breach of these conditions renders the driver fully liable for all damages, third-party claims, and legal costs, regardless of insurance coverage.
Insurance, CDW, and Liability
Included Insurance Coverage
All rentals include a basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and third-party liability insurance as required under Albanian law. The CDW reduces - but does not eliminate - the renter's financial liability in the event of an accident or damage to the vehicle. A standard excess amount applies and will be disclosed in the booking confirmation.
Standard Excess
In the event of an at-fault accident, theft, or damage to the rented vehicle, the renter is liable for the applicable excess amount as stated in the rental agreement. Excess amounts vary by vehicle category and are shown before booking confirmation. The excess covers the deductible portion of any repair or replacement cost.
Optional Full Coverage
Renters may opt to reduce their excess to zero by purchasing a Super CDW or full coverage upgrade at the time of booking or at pickup. This option eliminates financial liability for most accidental damage, subject to the exclusions listed below. Full coverage does not apply to damage caused by prohibited use, wilful misconduct, or driving under the influence.
Exclusions
Neither basic CDW nor full coverage applies to the following: damage to tyres, wheels, undercarriage, or glass caused by road hazards or misuse; damage resulting from prohibited activities as listed in these terms; interior damage or theft of personal belongings; or any incident where the driver was operating the vehicle in breach of these terms.
Limitation of Liability
rentcarsaranda.com operates as a car rental service facilitating bookings for local fleet vehicles in the Sarandë area. While we take every reasonable step to ensure accurate information and reliable service, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability of all vehicle categories, particularly during peak summer months in July and August when demand on the Albanian Riviera is highest.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, rentcarsaranda.com shall not be liable for: indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from a rental booking or cancellation; losses caused by events outside our reasonable control including road closures, ferry delays at Sarandë port, extreme weather, or civil disruption; personal injury or property damage not caused by our direct negligence; or any loss arising from the renter's breach of these terms.
Our total liability to any customer in connection with a specific booking shall not exceed the total amount paid for that rental. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Albania. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these terms or the use of rentcarsaranda.com shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in Vlorë County, Albania.
Where a dispute cannot be resolved through direct negotiation, the parties agree to attempt mediation in good faith before initiating formal legal proceedings. Customers based in EU member states retain any statutory rights afforded to them under applicable EU consumer protection regulations, to the extent those rights apply to services rendered outside the EU.
